Coffee Origin-Ethiopia

Ethiopia produces some of the best quality coffee and is highly regarded by coffee lovers. Production accounts for 70% of total export revenue, and about 15 million Ethiopians are engaged in the coffee industry.

The exciting taste comes from Ethiopian coffee, which usually has bright citrus acidity and floral aromas. Ripe fruit flavours can appear like bergamot or blueberries. The multiple flavours found can be attributed to the high altitudes of the 3 main growing regions Sidamo, Yirgacheffe and Harrar.

Ethiopian coffee is traditionally processed in a dry process, where the coffee seeds are dried inside the fruit, although the wet process is becoming more common.

Ethiopia only grows Arabica coffee, of which there are thousands of varieties, many of which are still wild and unsorted.

Forest coffee is a term used to refer to this type of coffee beans purchased by the locals from the wild. There is much less coffee grown on the estate, most of which is garden coffee, which is grown on small farmers’ land composed of several trees.

Coffee that does not come from cooperatives or estates must be grown and harvested through the Ethiopian Coffee Exchange.

ECX uses a system that scores coffee quality and cup shape, so farmers can get fair prices and pay in time.

Then, the coffees of these small farmers are blended together according to grade and processing method, which means that buyers cannot trace the coffee back to a single farm or variety.

Coffee Origin-India

The production of Indian coffee is concentrated in the southernmost region of the country, but other regions are now expanding to meet consumer demand.

It is mainly grown in shaded conditions with other crops (such as bananas, peppers and ginger), growing under different rainfall and altitudes (range 700-200m), which makes the taste of Indian coffee slightly different. A good example is moderate to full low acidity. It is usually described as chocolate or spicy, with a strong aroma.

The most striking thing about Indian coffee is a unique craft called "Monsoon" coffee. The dried green coffee will be stored in open warehouses along the coast. After being exposed to tropical air for a few months, coffee will absorb moisture, which makes the body bolder and weakens its acidity.

Coffee Origin-Indonesia

Sulawesi, Timor, Sumatra and Java are famous for coffee. 25% of the coffee grown is Arabica, which was replaced by Robusta coffee after the leaf rust epidemic disrupted production in the 1870s.

Typical examples of Indonesian coffee are strong body, strong flavour and low acidity. The aroma of tobacco and cedar is very common, and bad examples can show a musty smell similar to earthy.

I ordered Ant for my cafetiere having been so impressed with the Audley. On first impressions, certainly not disappointed. Not sure which is my favourite so would recommend either if you like strong coffee

  4. Rick Walker (verified owner)

Everything about the Coffee Twins company is exceptional…I ordered ANT beans, superb blend of Ethiopian, Indonesian and Indian beans. The taste is as described, chocolatey, smooth and rich. The roasting date is printed on the pack (01/04/2022 in this instance. Finally, the customer service is second to none. Raja made contact with me for clarification of my order and went the extra mile to ensure a happy customer, which I am. I shall return!
